Dan Wheldon won the race last year, and in 2005. Dan would die at the age of 33 in October of last year in a car crash in the IndyCar World Championship in Las Vegas.
The only time the annual Indy auto race was not held was in 1917-18, and in 1942-45, during the first and second world wars.
